Tangible Kingdom (Week 7 Day 7) "By Faith"

Today’s reading takes us through the “Heroes of the Faith” as seen in Hebrews. It was by faith that so much was accomplished. And scripture reminds us that they were commended for their faith. The difference maker for them is that when God spoke, they knew it was Him, and they acted.
It takes an amazing faith to re-orient your life around something new. So many of us have learned a Christian journey that is so centered around us, that it’s literally like wearing someone else’s shoes to focus more on others. The difference has got to be found in the confidence in knowing that that is exactly what Christ told us to do. A good question for us today is, “How willing are we to follow?”

As I read today’s section in the TK primer, I was reminded of a quote from a book on change- “Who Moved My Cheese” by Spencer Johnson. Johnson says, “When you change what you believe, you change what you do.” Our faith demands that we do acts of service for others. Especially those that are marginalized and often despised by society. The Bible is very clear in respect to taking action when the Spirit tells us to take action. Johnson gives me more food for thought by asking,”What would you do if you were not afraid?” How many times have I been frozen in fear? Unsure of the consequences, I tend to do nothing. Christ is with me. He asks me to do things that are frightening at times. He whispers to me.” Do this, don’t worry about the outcome- the results are mine alone.”
